As General Manager of Health Action Trust, Mary Ellis manages numerous contracts and oversees a skilled workforce operating in areas of mental health promotion and peersupport (for people with mental illness).
Coming from a background in Project Management and Information Technology management, Mary has now been working in the field of health promotion management for over 20 years. Mary has been involved with the WellBeing@Work programme since inception and continues to guide the project’s development, direction and growth.
Health Action Trust, Nelson
Founded by Dr Doug Short and Mr Colin Gunn in 1985 to provide community-based health promotion, Health Action Trust became a Registered Charitable Trust on 20 March 1992. Now with 30+ years’ experience delivering programmes in the Nelson-Tasman region and beyond, the Trust manages mental health promotion contracts with the Ministry of Health and works with organisations around New Zealand focussing on wellbeing in the workplace.
Health Action Trust’s Mission Statement is to “Work with communities to improve health and remove barriers that limit wellbeing”. The Trust applies this through a community action approach to health promotion by working closely alongside other groups to assist them to develop solutions that will create lasting change and improve health.
Health Action Trust has a reputation for leadership in health promotion, workplace wellbeing and professional peer support and is recognised as a model of best practice nationwide.
